This is unexpectedly a great feel good slice of life Japanese drama. The plot is also original like a story based on the fictional life of Arimura Kasumi, it has nothing to do with her aside from her name as an actress. The direction of the first two episodes is top notch like who else in Japan can create a great slice of life vibe; it's none other than Palme d'Or winner Hirokazu Koreeda.

The plot is simple and easy to follow, its episodic structure compliments the slice of life nature of the show, and it really makes the drama easy to digest. It follows the life of this fictional Arimura Kasumi and how she spends those holidays.

As I said I really like the first two episodes of this drama, but episode one is the strongest as it highlights Koreeda's skill as a director. Nothing much happen to be exact, characters met, simple talk happen then we got introduced with this one character that happens to be Arimura Kasumi's half brother. The episode starts as cozy then gets a little bit tense in the middle and ends heartfelt and meaningful. The tension is very subtle but you will feel it and that is classic Koreeda, goes to show that even with limited time he can still replicate that spark like in his movies.

The acting is one of the most natural you will ever seen, even actress such as Arimura Kasumi is very effective here as in she is great in this drama, it is similar to her performance in the movie Flying Colors. I actually want to compare this to Ore no Hanashi wa Nagai which is one of my favorite dramas last year, both are slice of life and dialogue heavy, but the acting in that drama is over the top manga-like. I don't mean it's bad because it was intentional, I mean both dramas have their charms.

Watch it if like relaxing and easy to digest slice of life show.
